May is Green Month for Mags - Leo in Vanity Fair, Laurie David Edits Elle

Leonardo DiCaprio is being featured in May’s issue of Vanity Fair, with fur! Don’t worry; the fur’s attached to celebrity polar bear cub Knut (sounds like Ka-noot). As you may recall, Knut was born in captivity at the Berlin Zoo and raised by a keeper after being rejected by his mother. Annie Leibovitz shot the photos, of DiCaprio at the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon in southeast Iceland and of Knut at his Berlin Zoo home. Photos and video of the shoot can be found on the Vanity Fair website.

The issue features a sneak preview of DiCaprio’s upcoming documentary The 11th Hour and will be on sale April 10.

May is for green magazines

Elle is also doing a Green Issue for May, with guest editor Laurie David. Eco-fashions are being modeled by actor activists including Cameron Diaz, Evangeline Lilly and Maggie Gyllenhaal. That’s just a bit of what Elle will be offering in the issue that proves “green is the new black”. Other topics being presented in a greener shade include beauty, politics and home improvements.

About Crystal

Making dill pickles and jam, composting religiously and recycling regularly are just a few things that were passed down to me from grandparents that still produce much of what they consume and leave little to waste. I believe in a non-toxic household and would rather forgo cleaning than use harsh products. Like many budding environmentalists I still struggle with the urges of consumerism while taking the necessary steps to green my life. I can be found tearing apart envelopes to recycle the paper, planning my first attempt at gardening and trying to convince my boyfriend that a vermicomposting bin in the kitchen wouldn’t smell that bad.
