Father's Day Gift Ideas: Green Your Dad!

Father's Day is fast approaching and I'm willing to bet you're busted for decent dad's day gift ideas, never mind eco-friendly gift ideas. Fear not – we've put together a sweet list of Father's Day gifts that are easy on the wallet and on the earth.

If your pops is a gadget guy, there is any number of solar chargers out there – but our fave is the terribly handsome leather Noonsolar solar-charging messenger bag. Whether he's carrying a laptop, smart phone or MP3 player, dad can charge to his heart's content while he's on the go.

For the guys-guy father, consider giving dad an organic beer brewing kit from Seven Bridges. Home brewing is actually dead simple, and organic just plain tastes better. If you're looking for a few tips, take the virtual class together then drink to dear old dad!

Maybe dad just doesn't need any gadgets or gifts to know you appreciate them. Help dad fight global warming with the gift of a ton of carbon offsets, or donate livestock, bees and fruit trees in his name via Heifer International or Oxfam

For green thumbs everywhere, we think the coolest gift ever is the Living Wall. These are modular panels you can hang indoors or out, and they're packed with an arrangement of plants that remove toxins from the air and provide a little green pick-me-up to any space.

If you're still stuck for ideas, time is the best gift you can give anyone. Spend the day outside; plan an organic picnic in your favorite outdoor spot, or go for a hike or a bike ride on a local trail. No matter what shade of green your father is, he'll appreciate the thought you put into his day this year, and you'll both be doing the planet a favor.

My Dad has everything he wants. It's not that he is rich, it's just that he is contented with his lot which is great and i am really happy for him but it does makes occasions like fathers day difficult. I normally have to revert to his one know weak spot, which is a coastal walk with a stop off for a pub lunch.
