Global Warming and Other Bollocks Book

A couple of UK scientists have gone on record in book form to denounce popular "scare stories" about the environment and human health.

A new book Global Warming And Other Bollocks: The Truth About All Those Science Scare Stories, by professor of anaesthetics at London University, Stanley Feldman, and Vincent Marks, a former professor of clinical biochemistry and dean of medicine at the University of Surrey, are questioning some of the doomsday proclamations made about climate change, healthy living and other hot topics.

The book examines the "facts" behind global warming, the future of polar bears, and healthy lifestyle wreckers like salt and Turkey Twizzlers, among others.

Among their claims:

  • Polar bears are not going to go extinct. The pair of scientists claim that polar bear populations are not declining, but in fact growing in spite of their loss of habitat.
  • Humans are not to blame for global warming. Feldman and Marks point to the sun being the CO2 culprit, arguing that the sun's heat has simply intensified.
  • Global warming might be good for us. The duo say a warmer climate and an increase in CO2 could be good for farming and agriculture.
  • Organic food is not better for you. The anti-organic pair say plant nutrients comes from the air in the form of CO2, and from water-soluble chemicals in the soil. By the time organic foods reach your plate, it is all the same.
  • There is no need to cut back on salt. The soon to be under fire scientists posit that salt is good for us, and we need it to control our body temperature - a person with low salt can cause overheating, and in extreme cases, death.

Set to publish on July 8, the Global Warming And Other Bollocks authors maintain that the end of the world is not, in fact,  nigh. They claim that "the idea that we are one step from calamity is as old as history itself. Every step on the road of progress has always been countered by those who think that we should keep to a primitive lifestyle that they claim is compatible with nature."

Can't wait to watch the controversy unfold as climate change activists and non-believers butt heads over the controversy.

Richard Feynman gave a lecture before he died on pseudo science, called CARGO CULT  SCIENCE.

Insummary before a Theory is Proved, you need to bend over backwards to dis prove it,and all results must be reported, not just the ones you want to prove you are right, because the easiest person to fool is yourself, and all you do is prove your theory.

DO THEY DO THAT ?

• Science is a way of trying not to fool yourself. The first principle is that you must not fool yourself, and you are the easiest person to fool.

o From lecture "What is and What Should be the Role of Scientific Culture in Modern Society", given at the Galileo Symposium in Italy, 1964.

It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong.

Richard P. Feynman.

SOUNDS LIKE THIS COULD FIT  GLOBAL WARMING THEORY TO ME!!

REGARDS...........................WASP

BNP    ONLY PARTY TALKING ANY SENSE ON THIS ISSUE

I HAVE JUST READ THEIR ELECTION MANIFESTO.

Well Mark, if you'll remember, there were witches back in those days which, as everyone well knows, caused all of the droughts, famines, crop failutes, cold weather, hot weather, etc.

The simple and most effective solution was to burn them, which, while creating more womanmade CO2, calmed the hysterical masses of the time.

If we could just identify the global warming "deniers, skeptics, unbelievers" through, say, a witch hunt, and started freezing them alive (reducing greenhouse gases through a different kind of carbon sequestration) and shipping them to the south pole where temperatures have been dropping for the past 30 years, then maybe potential witches wouldn't try and speak their minds and ask annoying questions.

Hey, it worked for awhile back then...and I'm sure Jack, Chicken Little, et al, would happily push the "Freeze the Witch" button to prevent the sky from falling......

To all "Evil Humans Are Making The World Hotter" believers...  please explain:

What did Evil Mankind do to poor Mother Earth during the Middle Ages that made Mother Earth get warmer?

What did Evil Mankind do to poor Mother Earth during the mid 16th to mid 19th Centuries that made Mother Earth get colder?

What effect did Evil Mankind have on the periodic fluctuations of Mother Earth's average temperature during the eons before Evil Mankind ever even existed?

I think my point is clear.

These Environmentalist hardcore "Believers" are as crazy as the idiots in history who sacrificed their children to Sun gods or Rain gods or whatever...

Admittedly, Mankind has made shocking bungles and has done appalling actions of environmental ruin (extinctions of animals, plant species and so on) but to argue that we are now responsible for the global increase in temperature rise is just lunatic fringe 'thinking'.  Actually, it's chardonnay-sipping, lounge-chair socialists all trying to expiate their own guilt.  And that's  typical of the egocentric Baby Boomers.  They were a bunch of campus communists in the 60s rebelling against daddy's wealth, who then all happily exploited the "system" for their own advancement in the 80s.  Now they feel guilty.  So... what's the panacea for their self-hating inverse-narcissistic guilt?  Blame (evil White patriarchal) Man for the problem.  I don't see rich Oil Shieks agonising over the problem of global warming... oh no.  They're quite happy to sell their oil off to the highest bidder.  I don't see the Chinese agonising over it, nor the Indians.  Oh no.  They're all happy to build 3 or 4 coal-fired power stations a week, pushing their carbon emissions right up (and beyond) the USA's and Europe's.  Like they care for a Kyoto protocol or a Copenhagen one or anything.  Meanwhile, the Guilty-Ex-Hippies of the West are telling us nuclear is now a good way to go.   Okay.... getting ourselves weaned off fossil fuel is a good thing - but going psycho over global warming is not helping.  The information and misinformation is just confusing everyone.  If the powers-that-be were really convinced the planet is going to hell in a hand basket, either they've got a space ship to get them and their kids out of here when the proverbial hits the fan  ... or...  it ain't.

I've read the book, It's excellent! Also, that's a very nice picture of a polar bear, how many eco-mentalists did you think it took to haul him onto that piece of melting ice, which, by the way, is probably  there due to seasonal change and NOT global warming?

I want to read this book soon. I'm glad some people are finally talking some sense! I just wish the people in charge would listen, so that they would stop wasting our money on "saving the world"

Climate Change....This scam was planed many years ago....To control you and to make lots and lots of money trading carbon credits...Think about it.....Making billions out of thin air....

Please please everyone just open some history books.... Look up why Greenland called Greenland...Yes it used to be all green....It is far from it now...

Scotland and lots of northern  Europe Used to have vineyards all over in the Tudor warm period....No way could you do this today....Its far to cold....

People are going have to question there belief system.....Is what you have been told in the media true...Some one you have never met comes on the TEL LIE VISION  and tells you that man is making the world warm up...Question what they say....

I could go on for hours

"...but for all the poor people in the world development is essential. Every dollar put towards useless research or inefficient production to emit less CO2 condemns theese people to beeing poor a while longer, which of course is unacceptable."

I don't know about you inparticular Jens, but seems to me that a lot of people suddenly choose to cynically play what they willfully kid themselves is a counter card, so to speak, an emotionally, dubiously morally, charged one, as though mitigation of climate change and helping the poor of the world need be mutually exclusive. When previously they couldn't really give a sh*t.

"What a lot of nonesense this all is. Planet earth has taken care of itself for countless millenia..."

Is there a term or expression to describe this attitude? I've come accross it a few times, what lies behind it?

If you recieve a phone call to say your house (if you have one) is burning down, you'll probably panic. You've almost certainly taken measures to try an make sure it won't happen.. but when it comes to the massive destruction going on around the world... you'll probably conflate it with astroids or super volcanoes... etc, sh*t like this has always happened.. was ever thus.. all inevitable and beyond our control.

What a lot of nonesense this all is. Planet earth has taken care of itself for countless millenia. If things get too out of balance, then the cause of the problem (man) will be reduced as the earth becomes unable to supply enough resources to sustain him. You may not like it, but nature really does work on the principle of "survival of the fittest".

Christopher: Cutting back on technological development and economic growth to save us from something that isn't real is definatly not something we need to do. Sure, we in the rich part of the worl can deal with a small cut in our standards of living, but for all the poor people in the world development is essential. Every dollar put towards useless research or inefficient production to emit less CO2 condemns theese people to beeing poor a while longer, which of course is unacceptable.

What a laugh I had reading that nonsense. Are these "pretend" scientists ?

Did they get their degrees at a fast food restaurant or something?

Posted by Christopher on June 23,2009 at 9:56 AM

Even if all this "bollocks" where true, let's just run with the green stuff - it's doing more good for the planet regardless. We as a population need to cut back - on everything...  IF there isn't a cause or a movement, then nothing would ever happen, thus I'm going to teach my kids that if they don't protect the environment look at what happens. Why waste so much time going against something that is good?  I don't think those "UK scientists" will be to welcomed to many conferences.

No no no! Do not abandon this theory of death by SUV gas and plant food. Althought it's not as good as the WMD scam, it sure could take our social movement further towards the tribal Utopia we as good environMENTALists strive for.

Our five billiion year old planet is NOT strong, it is weak. It is fragile. It needs human monkeys to take care of it and nurture it along the road to recovery.

I look at my kids in the eyes and tell them that doomsday is near (23 years and counting) and they will not have kids because they will die an unspeakable death on a toxic wasteland of a sick planet thanks to our human selfhishness.

Climate Change IS real. It IS real.

It used to be called weather.

God help us.
